Mastopexy (Breast Lift)

As women age, it’s common to experience a loss of firmness and lowering of the breasts over time. A Breast Lift (without implants) will fix this “sagging” and reposition the nipple and areola, reshaping and firming the underlying breast tissue for a more youthful appearance.

OVERVIEW

A Breast Lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure that addresses sagging (ptosis) by removing excess skin and reshaping the surrounding tissue to reposition the breasts. This procedure is often sought by individuals experiencing changes in breast shape due to factors such as ageing, pregnancy or weight fluctuations.

At East Coast Plastic Surgery, our team carefully tailors each Breast Lift to the patient’s anatomy and preferences, with techniques designed to support healing and minimise visible scarring. If you are considering a breast lift, a consultation with our experienced team can help you explore your options and determine the best approach for your needs.

JOURNEY

Consultation

Meet with a specialist to discuss your goals, evaluate your breast condition, and determine the best approach for your lift.

Before surgery, patients receive clear instructions regarding fasting, medications and any necessary lifestyle adjustments. These guidelines are designed to support a safe surgical experience and optimal recovery.

The surgeon will make precise incisions, remove excess skin, and reshape the breast tissue to achieve the desired lift.

After the surgery, you’ll be monitored and given post-op care instructions, including how to manage swelling and discomfort.

Attend follow-up appointments to ensure proper healing and to review the results with your surgeon.

Frequently asked questions

Below are answers to some of the most common questions about breast lift surgery. If you have any further queries or need more personalised information, we encourage you to reach out for a consultation.

Who is a good candidate for a breast lift?

Generally, women experiencing sagging due to ageing, pregnancy, weight fluctuations, or genetics are good candidates. It’s important to be in good overall health and have realistic expectations.

A breast lift reshapes and raises the breasts but does not significantly alter the size. If you’d like to increase or decrease the size, a breast augmentation or reduction can be performed alongside the lift.

Most patients can resume normal activities within 1-2 weeks, but it may take several weeks for swelling to fully subside and for the final results to become visible.

While the results are long-lasting, factors such as ageing, gravity, and lifestyle choices can affect the longevity of the lift over time.

Scarring is inevitable with any surgery, but an experienced surgeon will place incisions strategically to minimise their appearance. Scars will fade over time with proper care.
